This FAQ will help you get familiar with the mxoemu.info project.
Here you can learn about current state of mxoemu, availability of game functions etc.
If you have questions which have not been covered by this FAQ,
feel free to join The Matrix Community discord server,
and post your questions there.
Is mxoemu project still alive?
Yes. MxOEMU is under continuous development, although most of the progress is being made on the upcoming Phosphor server,
while the current test server, Reality, receives some minor updates from time to time.
There is no timeline for new features or updates, but infos about any released updates are shared by the developer.
How many people are working on mxoemu?
This project is being developed by a one, albeit very skilled developer, rajkosto, who has done an amazing job throughout long years he's been doing this.
There are, however, some other emulator projects out there with their own coding and ways of doing things.
Can I help?
Not with the server itself, but there is a need for an experienced webdev who can build a new, integrated website and forums for mxoemu.
Also if you are, by any chance, an old MxO veteran, you can also help by sharing any memorized or saved, either in some docs or screenshots, game mission data etc.
which are essential materials that will help rajkosto in the development process.
What are Reality and Phosphor servers?
Reality is a publicly available test server, where aside from being able to meet and explore,
you can also use variety of commands, ranging from spawning items, using animations and fx effects, to taking appearance of the npcs.
Phosphor is a server that is currently under development and closed for public, where most of the development progress is being made.
This is where we expect to see combat, missions and other, currently missing, game features.
How can I play on mxoemu?
- Go to https://mxoemu.info/ website and create an account;
- Download and install the latest (MxO_7.6004p) client release from the website;
- Create the character either via website panel, or in the game;
- Use your newly created character to enter the game and start exploring!
What can I do in the game?
At the present time mxoemu test server is considered largely an urban exploration server. You can explore every corner of the Mega City,
even places such as Org Strongholds, White Hallways and White Rooms, which would be difficult to access in the course of the regular gameplay.
Objects such as hardlines, metro and elevators are fully functional, so you can use them to travel around the city.
You can also use abilities such as Hyper-Jump, Hyper-Speed, and Hyper-Sprint. And you can also have fun with the available commands.
Aside from exploration, there is naturally also the social side of the game, so it's worth noting that recent update made it possible to form crews and factions with your friends.
Where can I find mxoemu commands?
You can find all mxoemu command guides, lists and sheets on here.
Is there anything else to do?
You can join community events, such as the monthly parties organized in mxoemu by the resurrected Radio Free Zion.
These meetings often happen on the first Saturday of the month and you can expect a number of people during these meetings, as well as some decent music.
Information about the exact meeting location is always posted at least couple hours in advance on RFZ discord server.
When will we get combat and missions?
While we know that progress is being made on that front, we can't really say when can we expect these features to be ready.
A tremendous amount of and work is required to write code that governs these core features, and as everything is written from scratch
it will take quite a considerate amount of time before we get to see them being completed.
Will MxO eventually be fully restored?
No. A lot of data is permanently lost, such as mission data etc. Rajkosto is working with what the old playerbase have memorized and saved in docs and screenshots.
As such, the game will never be restored to its former glory and there will always be things missing even when the project reaches the equivalent of the 'complete' state.
I never played MxO. Where can I learn about game world?
You can find links to archives, memorybooks and even official game guide here.
